Remember to name beneficiaries—your loved ones or favorite organizations—for your survivor benefits. It is important to review your designation periodically to ensure all information is current and accurate.

You can add or change a beneficiary any time on myCalSTRS.

Who Can You Name as Beneficiary?

You can choose:

  • A living person.
  • A trust.
  • Your estate.
  • A charity.
  • Any combination of these options.

Reviewing Your Beneficiary Designation

Life events, such as a name change, the birth or adoption of a child, or becoming disabled are all important times to confirm you beneficiary designation.
